Meet Our Team, Our Family

Kenn - Sewing Center, Machines – Cheyenne, WY

Kenn Harvey - Owner

I started working as the Service Manager at Billings Sewing & Vac in 1983 and I worked there for nearly 10 years.

I moved to Cheyenne and started the Sewing Center of Cheyenne from scratch in 1992. We built our business in a small location located at 1400 Hugur Ave. and were bursting to the seams almost 30 years later. I was blessed to be able to purchase the old Payless Shoe Store at 1511 Logan Avenue which is about four times larger and our parking area has increased dramatically!

I would also like to thank God for His blessings and direction, and my late wife Nicole for all her patience, guidance, love and support for all those years. To my family of employees, without whom I doubt we would still be here over 30 years later.

A special thanks to all our customers from all around the Rocky Mountain region, who have placed their trust with us.

Clell C. - Store Manager & Service Manager

As the Store Manager, Clell is learning all aspects of taking care of our customers and is motivated to continue running the Sewing Center of Cheyenne with the same spirit I have for over three decades.

As the Service Manager, Clell is great at trouble-shooting all manner of machines, and specializes on sewing machines, embroidery machines, sergers, overlock, Long Arms, commercial and domestic as well. He has an innate gift and has been a tremendous benefit for the Sewing Center.

Kathy D. - Floor Manager & Fabric Manager

I was born in Caribou, Maine where we raised potatoes for a living. Married right out of high school to an amazing man, going on 45 years. Shortly after getting married, I joined the Air Force. I am a mother of three very amazing daughters, and blessed with a granddaughter who now is in LCCC College.

Military moved us around until we retired in Omaha, Nebraska. In Omaha for 20 years, I worked with Special Needs children in the local schools. Later I changed jobs to a Safety Directory for Vala’s Pumpkin Patch. After all our children graduated from college, my husband decided to move to Cheyenne.

Like most women, I started sewing after my children move out. I took sewing classes in my younger years to learn the basics. When COVID shut us down, I really developed a love for quilting. I was able to finish all my unfinished projects. I wanted to make any and everything. To help pay for my fabric addiction I got a job at Joann’s fabric. One day I got a phone call from

Kenny who offered me a job which I accepted. I am the floor manager and purchase fabric; I love my job and the people. I love teaching and seeing the reaction on people’s faces when a quilt comes together!!

Jermaine M. - Customer Service

I came to Cheyenne, Wyoming when I was stationed at F.E Warren AFB, through the Air Force. Met my husband there, he is since deceased. I was introduced to sewing by my paternal grandmother when I was a teenager. I sewed outfits for my daughter and costumes for my granddaughter. Since working at Sewing Center of Cheyenne for the last two years my interest is creating quilts, table runners and table toppers.

Wendy H. - AccuQuilt Club & Customer Service

The Sewing Center of Cheyenne would like to introduce Wendy Halter. Wendy has worked for the SCC since November 2020. She is a Cheyenne, WY native. She was married to Garry Halter in September 1981, together they had four children and have eight grandchildren! Her grandmother taught her, her love of sewing, but it was her Mother-In-Law who taught her, her Love of Quilting. Prior to retiring from a 30-year career in corrections with the State of

Wyoming, she began working at the SCC where she called THIS her FUN JOB!! She LOVES seeing Your Creations, helping you choose fabrics for your next project, and/or helping you choose your next sewing machine! She currently is our Product Specialist and Accuquilt Club Leader. She is very passionate about her work at the Sewing Center of Cheyenne and would LOVE helping you with any of your quilting needs.
